About Us

Marc Sickel, ATC, is founder and president of Fitness for Health, a Rockville, Maryland-based therapeutic exercise and fitness company specializing in programs for children, ranging from those with special needs to young athletes. Since founding his company in 1989, Mr. Sickel has worked with children, ages preschool and older, with varying needs, including coordination and self-esteem issues, sensory integration issues, developmental delays, gross and fine motor delays, learning disabilities, ADHD/ADD, and other special needs. In addition, he has developed sports-specific conditioning programs for young athletes involved in tennis, ice hockey, football, and a variety of other sports. His state-of-the-art, pediatric facility offers high-tech equipment, including equipment not found elsewhere in the United States.

In addition to his work with children, Mr. Sickel has developed personalized fitness programs for deconditioned adults and adult athletes, as well as specialized programs for those with diabetes, cardiovascular, and weight management issues, and other medical needs.

He has been featured on the NBC Today Show, in The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, on WUSA TV-9, The Potomac Almanac, and Tennis magazine.

Mr. Sickel is a certified athletic trainer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland. Prior to starting his own company, he served as the athletic trainer at the Landon School in Bethesda and the fitness director at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Fitness for Health’s staff includes certified athletic trainers, a physical therapist and physical education specialists. Each staff member has the educational background, experience, and caring, motivational personality to provide the utmost in professional, personalized service and programming to each client.
