Marc Sickel , Founder and President

A nationally recognized innovator in the field of exergaming, fitness, and special needs therapy, Marc Sickel founded Fitness for Health in 1989 to fulfill his dream of helping children and adults maximize their physical potential.

Having grown up as a child with special needs, Marc used his unique perspective to create a safe, exciting approach to fitness that addresses both the physical challenges and emotional challenges faced by children and adults of all abilities.  This innovative approach combines his unique Success Builds Success methodology and state-of-the-art exergaming equipment—much of which he custom-designs hand-in-hand with leading fitness manufacturers—to help children and adults develop the motivation and confidence they need to learn new skills and take on new challenges. It has proven again and again to be so successful that clients and families travel from as far away as Bermuda, Texas, and New York just to train with Marc.

Marc has been featured on the Today ShowO MagazineHuffington PostThe Washington PostForbes.comBethesda Magazine, and Tennis Magazine, as well as countless regional publications and news programs. Prior to founding Fitness for Health, he was the Athletic Trainer at the Landon School in Bethesda and the Fitness Director at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Marc holds a degree in kinesiology from the University of Maryland at College Park.  Marc was also one of the first graduates of the Christ Church Child Center in Bethesda (now the Ivymount School), one of the nation’s pioneering schools for children with special needs.
