What is the craze Raw/Live food, why is it important to implement more whole foods in your diet? How can you incorporate more raw food in your lifestyle. Raw food for healing, inflammation, and lifestyle issues. Sample of juicing, raw/live foods and recipes shared.

Salanda Thomas is a sought after Health Advocate. Founder of Takara Wellness, Salanda helps individuals achieve holistic health. Through nutrition, detoxification and movement programs they learn to incorporate what works for them to reboot their lifestyle. Mother of two teenage boys and wife of 22 years Salanda’s life took an unexpected turn when her youngest son was diagnosed with Down syndrome and Grave’s disease. She immediately made a career change and became an advocate with the Family Empowerment Center under Quality Trust for Individuals with Disabilities. It was during her years as an advocate that Salanda realized her hobby of helping and encouraging others to live a healthier lifestyle was actually a true passion. 

Former studio manager of MamaSita Movement and Wellness Studio from 2008-11, in the Fall of 2011, Salanda experienced another unexpected turn, diagnosed with a brain tumor she had to become her own health advocate. Knowing that the right foods would help her heal faster, during her month and a half hospital stay Salanda had raw food meals delivered to the hospital. Through intentional self-care she met her goal of returning home in time for her son’s 14th birthday. Shortly after her recovery she made a decision to turn her passion of helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle into a career. Now, after years of being the go-to person for health & wellness issues for family and friends she achieved her dream by enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in their Holistic Health Coaching Program and thus continues on her journey.

Salanda is a Certified Raw Food Educator with The Raw Food Institute and in 2011 she achieved another of her goals, enrolling in a life changing course with Raw Food chef Dr. Aris LaTham of Sunfired Culinary Institute.
